St Savinien an absolute must for younger children. In this small towns park, just 30
drive from our family friendly gites in the Charente Maritime. There is a lake which
from May to September has little electric boats beautifully handcrafted, painted and
maintained in the form of paddle steamers, ferrys and famous boats such as the
rainbow warrior. In peak season it is open every afternoon, at other times it is open on
sunny Sunday afternoons. Children over 9 can captain their own and mum and dad can
go along with younger children. It is only 15mins, so even tiny ones are happy and all
the children get a life jacket and the boats have high sides so they can't jump out ! Cafe
and ice creams available. A lovely park where you can while away a very pleasant
afternoon.
