The region is famous for its Cognac and Pineau production. There are many tiny villages and hamlets to explore. Quaint chateaux are common. Local delicacies include
mussels in cream, goats cheese, honey and cake with angelica. Swimming, fishing, horse riding, golf, tennis and rowing are all available during the summer months in the local
area. There are also many lovely country walks all year round. The landscape is gently rolling and ideal for cycling.
What there is to see and do around our family friendly gites in the Charente Maritime region of Sw France
|
Since our guests generally have young children, evenings are often spent chatting with
fellow guests, with a few glasses of wine under the stars. Since there are just six
cottages all the guests quickly get to know each other and find they usually have quite
a lot in common, so many an evening is spent sharing a bottle of local wine you have
discovered with your neighbours. Since Wendy is a registered child minder (and
mother) you can rest assured your children will be safely looked after if you do decide
to spend an evening out at one of the many restaurants in St Jean d'Angely.
Our family friendly gites in the Charente Maritime region of Sw France are very centrally located for all the main
towns. La Rochelle, Royan and Rochefort on the coast and Poitiers, Angouleme and Niort inland are all just an easy
one hours drive away at most. Saintes and Cognac are closer still and have plenty to keep both adults, children and
toddlers occupied and entertained. Click on the links right to find out more.
